Demand Mississippi return Indigenous Baby to Her Mother:
Cirila Baltazar Cruz gave birth to her baby girl in November of 2008 at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, MS. She speaks very little Spanish and no English; she speaks Chatino, an Indigenous people from Oaxaca, Mexico that, spoken by some 50,000 people.
The hospital provided her with an "interpreter" who is from Puerto Rico and does not speak Chatino, the language of the mother. Because of the language barrier and the misunderstanding by the hospital’s interpreter who only spoke Spanish and English, a social worker was called in.
The hospital's social worker reported "evidence" of abuse and neglect because:
* The "baby was born to an illegal [sic] immigrant;"
* The "mother had not purchased a crib, clothes, food or formula." (Most Latina mothers breast feed their babies).
* "She does not speak English which puts baby in danger."
Ms. Baltazar Cruz's baby was snatched from her two days after birth at the hospital and given to an affluent attorney couple from the posh Ocean Springs who cannot have children.
The authorities made no effort to locate an Chatino interpreter, Ms. Baltazar Cruz's native tongue. Organizers from MIRA, the Mississippi Immigrant Rights Alliance, located an interpreter who is fluent in Chatino in Los Angeles CA and interviewed the mother extensively with the interpreters help.
The mother was accused of being poor and not being able to provide for her child. No one has asked the mother to provide evidence of support. She owns a home in Mexico and a store which provides both secure shelter and financial support, not counting the nurturing of a loving family of two other siblings, a grandmother, aunts, uncles and other extended family.
Meanwhile, there is word in the Gulf Coast community that the "parents to be," have already had a baby shower celebrating the "blessed arrival" of this STOLEN child!
PLEASE MAKE CALLS & FAX LETTERS DEMANDING THE SAFE RETURN OF BABY & REUNITE HER WITH HER MOTHER!
If you believe this is unjust and outrageous and goes against all moral and religious beliefs and values, please call or write to the presiding Judge and the MS Department of Human Services to STOP this ILLEGAL ADOPTION! Stealing US born babies from immigrant parents is a growing epidemic in the United States. Many Latino parents have lost their children this way!

En noviembre pasado, dos días después de dar luz a su hija en un hospital en el estado de Mississippi, la bebé de Cirila fue arrebata y dada a una pareja próspera. Una “defensora del paciente” declaro que la Sra. Baltazar Cruz era incompetente porque era una "inmigrante ilegal " y no hablaba inglés. Ademas habalba poco español; porque la Sra. Baltazar Cruz es Chatino, un pueblo indígena del sudeste de México VEA ABAJO

Cirila Baltazar Cruz dió luz a su hija en en Noviembre del 2008 en el hospital de Singing River en Pascagoula, MS. Habla muy poco el español y nada de inglés, habla Chatino, el lenguaje de su pueblo nativo en Oaxaca, México, que es hablado por unas 50,000 personas.
El hospital proveó un “intérprete” que es de Puerto Rico y no habla Chatino, el lenguaje de la madre. A causa de la barrera de lenguajes y malentendimiento del intérprete del hospital que sólo hablaba español e inglés, un trabjador social intervinó.
Luego el trabajador social del hospital reportó “evidencia” de abuso y negligencia alegando que:
* La “bebé nació de una inmigrante ilegal [sic]’;
* La “madre no había comprado una cuna, ropa, comida o fórmula [para la bebé].” (La mayoría de madres latinas dan pecho a sus bebés).
* “No habla ingles, esto pone a su bebé en peligro.”
Oficiales del hospital arrebataron la bebé de la Sra. Baltazar Cruz casi inmediatamente después de dar luz en el hospital y dado a una pareja de abogados prósperos del elegante Ocean Springs que no pueden tener niños.
Las autoridades no hicieron ningún esfuerzo para ubicar a un intérprete que hablara su leguaje nativo. Organizadoras de MIRA, la Alianza Pro Derechos Inmigrantes de Mississippi, localizó a un intérprete fluído en Chatino en Los Angeles, CA y entrevisto extensivamene a la madre con la ayuda del intéprete.
La madre fue acusada de ser pobre y de no poder proveer para su hija. Jamás le han pedido a la madre que presente evidencia de manutención. Ella es propietaria de su casa en México y de una tienda de abarrotes con los cuales provee un hogar y apoyo económico, sin contar el amor de una familia de dos hermanitos más, una abuela, tías, tíos y otra familia extendida. Hay comentarios en la comunidad que los futuros padres adoptivos ya hicieron una lluvia de regalos celebrando la “bendecida llegada” de esta niña ROBADA.
Si usted cree que esto es injusto y escandaloso y va contra toda creencia y valor moral y religioso, por favor escriba o llame a la Juez encargada del caso y al Departamento de Servicios Humanos de MS para PARAR esta ¡ADOPCION ILEGAL! El robo de niños nacidos en los Estados Unidos por las autoridades en EE.UU., es una creciente epidemia. ¡Muchos padres latinos han perdido a sus hijos así!
