NNIRR's thank you for your partnership this year.

LATEST NEWS

Dear Friend,

Wishing you a restful holiday season with hopes for much needed relief and change in the New Year. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your partnership and solidarity. Your engagement this year inspired our work for human rights and helped to keep us going even in the most challenging moments.

We invite you to read our reflections on this past year and our vision for pushing for much needed changes ahead.

We are particularly proud of our COVID-19 advocacy with border mayors, a collaborative effort spearheaded by NNIRR last spring with over 60 border-wide organizations (and another 40 groups from across the country), including concrete recommendations for life-saving protections for migrants, asylum-seekers and refugees during the pandemic. The momentum from this advocacy has led to an ongoing initiative to spotlight Human Rights Voices from the Borderlands. As we roll out this campaign in 2021, we will share ways in which you can participate.

And if you have the time, watch our International Migrants Day vigil celebration, now viewable on our Facebook page. Co-hosted with Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity, the event was deeply moving, with powerful testimony, music, poetry and reflections on the historical context of the humanitarian crises at the US-Mexico border.

We are optimistic for promised relief in 2021 for migrant communities, but we also know there is much work to be done to bring about enduring protections and rights-based policy. There will be roadblocks along the way, and we know the path towards justice is long, but we have seen the power of community organizing. Together we can shift perspectives, demand justice and implement change.

It's time to Dream. Rise. Organize. Join us!

Peace in the New Year,

Alma Maquitico, Assata Davis, Bill Chandler, Eduardo Canales, Elí Alejo, Gerald Lenoir, Isabel Garcia, Jennifer Ferrigno, Lillian Galedo, Mónica Hernández & Pedro Rios
