Journey to Durban: Migrant Rights at the UN Conference Against Racism

Produced by the National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and Peek Media, 2003 (26 Minutes)

In a world where borders increasingly divide people, over fifteen thousand people from around the world met in Durban, South Africa, at the UN World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and related forms of Intolerance. The conference opened a critical forum for global discussion and action against racism by community leaders, advocates, and governments.

Journey to Durban: Migrant Rights at the UN Conference Against Racism follows the Immigrant Rights Working Group, a delegation of over 50 immigrant and refugee rights community leaders from the United States as the travel to Durban and work with other migrant and refugee rights organizers from around the world. The video documents the resulting work and accomplishments of an international group of immigrant and refugee rights organizers and activists at the conference, and projects the hopes and challanges that lie ahead.
