Take Action on 9/11 Commission Bills!

Demand that Congrss Delete Anti-Immigrant Provisions in HR 10 (Senate Bill 2845)

Tell Congress and the President to delete all immigration and driver's licence provisions from the 9/11 implementation bills!

HR 10 (Senate version 2845) pose some of the largest dangers to the security and safety of immigrant communities.

NNIRR calls for actions to delete anti-immigrant provisions in H.R. 10, otherwise known as the 9/11 Recommendations Act. H.R. 10 danverously moves the U.S. towards a new form of segregation, and promises to increase border militarization and enforcement measures that will destabilize communities.

Contact Key Members of Congress:
1. Contact members of Congress who are working these provisions through in a joing House/Senate Commmittee
2. Contact your local representative
3. Contact White House officials

We are asking you to remain on alert and maintain pressure on the Congressional Conference Committee working to reconcile the 9/11 Commission recommendations bills pending in the House and Senate. There is still the distinct threat that Congress during its lame duck session will vote on the new law if it comes out of Conference Committee.

For this reason, please continue making calls and sending faxes to the Conference Committee members and your Congressional delegation to demand the removal of all immigration provisions from the 9/11 Commission bills.

The House Republicans continue pressing H.R. 10, which still prohibits driver’s licenses to undocumented, increases border militarization, and reduces or eliminates due process rights for immigrants. The Senate version, S.2845, contains specific provisions on driver’s license, including immigration status requirements, which opens the door to a national ID card. Both bills increase border militarization.

TAKE ACTION TO KEEP THE PRESSURE ON UNTIL ANTI-IMMIGRANT PROVISIONS ARE DELETED:

We urge you to please CALL or FAX [see letter below] the Senate and House conferees IMMEDIATELY:
