Dream. Rise. Organize.
The road to Detroit:
nnirr at the 2010 us social forum (USSF)
NNIRR is going to be in Detroit for the 2010 US Social Forum (USSF) and we are putting out a general call to all members, friends and allies to join us!
Some 10,000 progressive activists and advocates are expected to attend the USSF, which will provide a unique opportunity to connect with friends and allies from across the country. Through the hundreds of workshops and other activities, participants will be introduced to the diverse issues and concerns that are part of our broad movement for social and economic justice, and take part in in-depth analysis and discussions across our movements. For more information about the USSF, go to: USSF 2010
We urge folks to participate in the 2010 USSF with NNIRR! In addition to NNIRR organized, sponsored or endorsed events, we are holding a NNIRR membership meeting on June 21 & June 22 in Detroit, just before the USSF formally opens.

AGENDA -- The membership meeting agenda can be downloaded here. Hard copies will also be distributed to participants at the meeting.
The events in Arizona with Governor Brewer's signing of SB 1070 makes a grassroots strategy meeting at this time all the more relevant - as we confront this, continued expansion of repressive immigration enforcement programs, and now, the "REPAIR" comprehensive immigration reform concept proposal in the Senate that would compromise human rights and dignity.
The outpouring of resistance to Arizona's racist, anti-immigrant policy, along with the strong solidarity for communities organizing on the ground has demonstrated that we can make our voices heard!
Thank you to everyone who has signed petitions, participated in organizing calls, talked to the media, and taken to the streets! The membership meeting will be an opportunity to build a common analysis of the past year and expectations for the near future and strategize on campaigns and organizing efforts from the grassroots that will build the movement to defend and expand rights and justice for immigrants and refugees, confront policies such as in Arizona and ensure we are heard in D.C. as legislators make deals that threaten the integrity of our communities.
